About Us
West Burton Village Shop & Tea Room is a traditional village shop, located on Greenview, overlooking the village green in West Burton, Yorkshire Dales. Whether you are a local resident, on a short break, or having a day out, you will always receive a warm welcome.
As well as an extensive range of provisions, we try, wherever possible, to support other small businesses in the Dales by stocking locally made goods.
We accept both cash and card payments.
Tea Room
Our tea room offers the perfect spot to unwind with a variety of teas and freshly ground coffees. Pair your drink with our freshly prepared sandwiches, savory pasties, sausage rolls, or a classic toasted teacake. Of course, no visit is complete without indulging in one of our delicious cakes.

We also proudly showcase and sell a curated selection of cards, artwork, and framed photographs by Yorkshire artists.
About The Village
West Burton is a village in Bishopdale, a side valley of Wensleydale, in the Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire, England. It lies 6.2 miles (10 km) south-west of Leyburn and 22.3 miles (35.9 km) west of the county town of Northallerton. It is the largest settlement in the civil parish of Burton-cum-Walden.
West Burton appears to have been home to settlements since at least the Iron Age, and hut circles on the top of Burton Moor have been designated as Scheduled Ancient Monuments.
West Burton grew rapidly during the Early Modern Period (1450 to 1750) as it became an important market town for people working in lead mining and stone quarrying. Some of the cottages built during the latter part of that period still stand today.
Cauldron Falls
Cauldron Falls (also known as West Burton Falls), is a series of waterfalls on Walden Beck in the village of West Burton, North Yorkshire, England. It is known as Cauldron Falls due to the swirls in the plunge pools beneath the cascades of the waterfall. The beck continues on underneath a packhorse bridge where there is another cascade. The artist J. M. W. Turner painted the falls when he travelled through Wensleydale in 1816.

Ruth Grindrod Landscape Photography
We are delighted to showcase a select collection of framed photographs by Ruth Grindrod in our tea room. Ruth is an award-winning landscape photographer who recently made Leyburn, North Yorkshire, her home after decades of capturing the stunning coastlines of East Anglia. Her highly acclaimed work has been featured twice in Landscape Photographer of the Year and earned her the title of overall winner at the Scottish Nature Photography Awards 2019. Beautifully framed prints of her photography are available to purchase directly from the tea room for just £15 each.
Wendy Healy Fine Art Cards
We are delighted to offer a beautiful selection of fine art print cards by Wendy Healy, available in both our shop and tea room. Wendy is an accomplished, Yorkshire-born contemporary painter who has spent more than 40 years capturing the world with an intuitive and seasoned eye. Deeply inspired by the rich artistic heritage and dramatic landscapes of her native Yorkshire, her distinctive work beautifully balances the rugged power of nature with the quiet intimacy of daily life. These high-quality art cards are available for just £3 each.
Amanda Hegard Unique Animal Sculptures
We are thrilled to display a unique collection of handcrafted animal sculptures by Amanda Hegard, available exclusively in our tea room. Amanda studied fine art sculpture in Manchester, originally specialising in organic stone and bronze forms. Recently, she has channeled her talents into creating smaller-scale animal designs, giving each piece its own distinct, individual personality. Because every sculpture is lovingly handmade, no two are exactly alike. Come explore the collection in the tea room, where each individual animal or set is priced separately.
Pierre Guillou Fine Art Cards
We are excited to offer a beautiful selection of fine art cards by Pierre Guillou, available in our tea room.
Pierre Guillou is a largely self-taught artist who lives and paints in the heart of the beautiful Yorkshire dales where his subject matter predominantly consists of the landscapes which surround him. He has also travelled extensively as a result of his previous life as a surgeon and Professor of Surgery in London and in Leeds. His interest in art was stimulated during a period undertaking medical research in Paris in the 80's where he was surrounded by art and where he first started to paint.
